Family History Courses

Awaken Your Ancestors - a ten module correspondence course covering family records, the records of civil registration, census returns, parish registers, parish records and constructing a pedigree.
Level: Elementary

Broadening Your Family Tree - a ten module correspondence course covering probate records, palaeography, names, military records, nonconformity, education and the professions.
Level: Intermediate

Completing Your Ancestral Journey - a twenty module assessed correspondence course covering a wide-range of records: manorial records, maps, census substitutes, migration, newspapers, Irish, Scottish and Welsh records ecclesiastical court records, quarter sessions and the assizes, one-name/one-place studies, methodology, DNA and heraldry.
Level: Advanced

Between Courses - a practical-based twelve session course that guides you into the archives and invites you to search the parish registers, nonconformist records, probate records, tithe maps, manorial records, title deeds and census substitutes.  

Pedigree Course - a half-day practical module that teaches you how to construct your own drop-line pedigree using PowerPoint. The next module is planned for 22 April 2019.

Military Records Day - Records of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Royal Marines, Reserve Forces, Coastguard and Customs packed into one day.   

All courses are conducted at the Petersfield Community Centre unless otherwise stated.
